Dear All!

Thank you for at wonderful stay in California. I am grateful to Ginny Anderson for inviting me to join her at Mid Pen Media for a talk about the Tree of Life and to sing the song “Eucalyptus Grove” from my album “Circle the Woods” – which is to a large extend inspired by Ginnys book “Circling San Francisco Bay”. I am grateful to all Californian friends who made this stay so wonderful, not least Ginny´s daughter, Marci Dupraw, for arranging a house concert at Ginny´s home. What a great evening. Thank you all for coming.

I am grateful to the Danish association of professional songwriters, DPA, for making this trip financially possible!

If any of you happen to be in Denmark, please feel free to take a look at December´s concert calender for upcoming Christmas Concerts.

Love,
Maria Elizabeth

Dear friends!

2017 marks the 50th anniversary for the year 1967 – that famous year, where The Beatles released “Sgt. Pebber´s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “All You Need is Love”. Meanwhile in the US near San Francisco the very first pop festival was being set up in Monterey and one could hear The Mamas and Papas, The Byrds, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead and many, many more. There was an explosion of talent that summer, which was named “The Summer of Love”.

I have always been fascinated by the music from the 60´s, which went on to become a kind of foundation for the next 40 years of rock and pop music up until today.

I hope you´d like to hear my new single – “1967” – a song that attempts to capture the sound and the atmosphere of those fascinating years – chaotic as they probably were as well.

“1967” is available from May 30th on digital platforms such as Spotify, Amazon, Itunes etc, and can also be found on utube with a video filmed in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco.

Love,
Maria Elizabeth

Hi everyone

Yesterday I attended a meeting with editor of the publishing company, Dansk Sang, Søren Bechmann and Mikael Højris, DMF (Danish Musician´s Union). It was a great meeting, and the happy news is that my Christmas song “Når julesneen falder hvid” is soon to be found in print, published by Dansk Sang.

Please see the video for the song on this home page, recorded back in 2012.

NEWS, NOVEMBER 2014

Friends!

I am back in Denmark after an absolutely wonderful trip to the US.   The hospitality, openness and warmth I met was incredible. Thank you so much!

I spent about two weeks in Austin, Texas, writing and co-writing. I also had the pleasure of recording a couple of new songs in Satellite Studio, Travis Heigths, with the great guitarist, Dave Scher.

The journey continued to San Francisco, where I met with writer Virginia Anderson, author of the book “Circling San Francisco Bay”, which has been a great inspiration for some of my new lyrics. Ms. Andersons approach to life through her experiences with nature is very inspiring, and resulted in a hike to Bald Mountain (Umunhum Mountain) and a primitive recording of a new song “Umunhum´s Name” at the summit.

In San Francisco I also recorded a video in Haight Ashbury, which is about to be edited here in Denmark.

Finally, in New York, I did a workshop for the guitar students at my old school, The Manhattan School of Music. I was absolutely great to revisit and to meet former teachers and good friends.

Now back in Denmark, I am busy preparing a new recording for 2015. Also, fall concerts have begun, and if you happen to be in Denmark, please join me for the next concert in the Sct. Michaelis Church in Fredericia. This is also the first LIGHT CONCERT of the year.

Hope to see you out there.

Best,

Maria Elizabeth

I am excited to be working on a new recording project inspired by American author Ginny Anderson´s book “Circling San Francisco Bay”. The project will take me to San Francisco this fall, and I look forward to meeting Ginny Anderson, and seeing part of the beautiful nature surrounding San Francisco. I began reading Ginny Andersons book in the middle of the Danish dark winter, where a book describing the gentle climate of California seemed to be just the right thing to read. I soon discovered that many of the chapters in the book contained their own tune, and I suddenly found myself hearing tunes while reading.

The entire essence of “Circling San Francisco Bay” seemed to me to address various emotions and life experiences in a very intuitive and spiritual way. This quickly set me off writing new lyrics in the same mood and atmosphere. Within the first three months of 2014 I wrote about 21 songs either directly inspired by Ginny Andersons book, or simply as a consequence of the intuitive tone it sets.

Most of these new songs deal with life & love – which always seem to be the most important issues for us all – yet songs are still written within the pop universe in which I always seem to find myself, though of course, with a sense of new ideas and changes.

Before heading off to San Francisco, I will spend about 12 days in Nashville, teaming up with other song writers and recording new material. Toward the end of the this exciting trip, I will visit New York and most certainly take a trip back to my old school, The Manhattan School of Music, to meet old friends and former teachers.
